Amen!!! I don't necessarily write myself love letters, but I love myself deeply and often and no one else measures up to that love that comes from within. XO
thank you Dr Vicki, for this! i had started a dear god journal tho too many experiences of contradictions, and i dropped the letters. This feels more inviting 💜 ; thanks for the uplifting message 🙏🏼
I loved reading your experience with this, Vicki. When you talk about how our romantic partners can fail to measure up because of our expectations and deep desire for an unconditional love, it had me thinking about how often we give love to our partners, writing love letters to others (maybe less so in today's age), and how we sometimes neglect giving that same love to ourselves first.
I'd love to hear how you find the practice if you try it Kaitlyn. It's been quite a revelation for me to discover that this unconditional love was right here all along 😃
Thanks so much for this meaningfilled piece of writing, Vicki. It resonates with my (most current) belief that Love and God are one and the same thing - a universal force of love and goodness, which is throughout everything and everyone and which we can open ourselves to. Fear is the counterforce.
I shall add it to my constantly developing daily practice and let you know the effect. With Love. XX
I'm so glad it's helpful Deborah. And yes, in my conceptualisation they are the same thing. The word 'God' carries a bit of baggage for many, so I tend to think of it as the universal consciousness or life force energy that flows through everyone and everything. Love to hear how you get on with the practice 😊
Thanks for this wonderful perspective Vicki. Liz's letters are taking the internet by storm and it's an extra nudge to read about it from a professional offering a personal view. I am currently writing about the difficulty I have with the idea of self love (which, it turns out, is mostly semantics in my brain) and reading your essay brings home to me what I want to put into practice.
Beautiful writing spot! And a great invitation to engage with the compassionate self. I wrote letters to myself when I went through a break up a couple of years ago and it was really comforting. I did it periodically afterwards and then stopped. I’m going to listen to the Liz Gilbert link and start again- thank you!
Haha yes, my work in the therapy room is often influenced by what I'm working on in my own life.... we teach best what we most needed to learn I guess 😃
Love this Vicki, gonna get exploring. X
Do it Dee, you won't regret it 😀😍
I’ve been thinking of doing this after hearing her talk about it in a podcast. This is a lovely nudge to follow through! ✨
Glad to hear it gave you a nudge Mika. I'd love to hear how you find it 😊

Love that Danielle, so important 😍
I really appreciate that you’ve shared this practice! I’m going to try it out! I love parts work
Great Viknesvari! I'd love to hear how you find it. Hope it's as useful as it has been for me 😊
Amazing! I may need to try this -to draw upon my inner love source and that of the universe to calm my nerves during trying times.
I highly recommend giving it a try Susan. I'd love to hear how you find it 😊
So beautiful and inspiring, Vicki. And I love that you’re assigning this as homework for your therapy clients!
Thank you Dana 😊

Fabulous. I hope it's as useful for you as it has been for me 😊
I’ve been wanting to do this. It’s been whispering at my ears ever since she started. Thank you writing about this. I’m gonna start.
Yes, do it Kaitlyn! It took me a while to fully jump on board, but I'm a full convert 😁
Absolutely love this 🙏🏽
Thank you Lucy 😊
This sounds absolutely lovely! I should try it.
Go for it Marina, I was surprised how effective it has been 😀😍

Fabulous Donna. It's a lovely practice that has supported me a lot. I hope you find it as helpful as I have 😊

Thanks Jo 😊 And yes, I've been amazed how comforting this practice is ❤️
I love Liz Gilbert's Substack. I was doing it for awhile then fell out of the habit. You've inspired me to restart. Thanks Vicki! Beautifully written.
I love comparing this practice to the therapy chair. Having someone listen with an open, compassionate heart is what we all need. 💜
Yay. Glad to give you that nudge Janine 😊 Hope I can keep it up too!
Me too! Today was day 1. We'll see where it goes...
I love when a practice shows up in our own lives that feels so good not to share with every. single. client. Ha!
